Weight Management Centre was formed in 2001 in response to the epidemic of overweight and obesity in the UK. The organisation is committed to healthy long-term weight loss and optimum wellness through positive lifestyle changes in adults and children. Our weight loss programmes and training qualifications provide practical evidence-based solutions resulting from years of meticulous research and development, and provide outstanding weight loss results. The services that we provide range from small scale support for individuals running a weight management programme, to the direct delivery and management of full weight management interventions for Primary Care Trusts.
Our mission is to provide and disseminate accurate and meaningful information alongside high quality cutting edge services relating to all aspects of overweight and obesity and to support this with practical tools and materials for effective delivery of weight management programmes. We are also an educational organisation that has recently researched, written and delivered the first level 4 obesity management qualification in the UK; as such our expertise in obesity as a provider is second to none.
The training that we provide is designed for health professionals, community wellness practitioners and all those interested in working with adults or children delivering obesity services. Our training is also highly relevant for those involved in the development of obesity intervention or prevention strategies; last year we trained over 1000 health professionals.

- Level 4 Obesity and Diabetes Management (Level 4)
The Level 4Obesity & Diabetes Management Qualification represents a new standard for obesity care and offers students an opportunity to practice in clinical or non clinical settings. The course will provide the most up to date information and scientific literature available as well as practical tools and strategies for effective weight and obesity management.
The programmes and services that we operate are bold and innovative and examples such as the Fit Fans and One Stop Shop that we currently provide on behalf of Hull PCT launched by Alan Johnson Minister for Health, are being hailed as model examples of community based weight loss services www.fitfans.co.uk.
WMC is one of only 7 providers on the Department of Health Child Weight Management Framework to provide National delivery of childhood obesity services and training. www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/Publications/DH_097297, and our childhood obesity intervention service was awarded Highly Commendable in the National Obesity Forum (NOF) Awards for Excellence in obesity care in 2006 This programme ‘Alive ‘N’ Kicking’ offers the best weight loss results in a community intervention anywhere in the UK.
WMC aims to provide a one stop shop for all weight management and obesity requirements and our aim is to work with our partners to determine and develop the most appropriate service and support necessary to meet their requirements.
