Meningitis Research Foundation

The charity and its work

Meningitis Research Foundation’s vision is a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

The charity funds research to prevent meningitis and septicaemia, and to improve survival rates and outcomes. MRF promotes education and awareness to reduce death and disability, and gives support to people affected.

Meningitis Research Foundation’s awareness programme

  • MRF communicates its life-saving messages through award-winning awareness campaigns, a world-renowned website, conference organisation and the production and distribution of a wide range of freely available literature.
  • The charity's public awareness programme focuses on the people who are at most risk, and those who care for them. Symptoms are clearly set out along with information on how to take fast and effective action if a case is suspected.
  • MRF produces guidance notes and protocols for health professionals to promote best practice in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with meningitis and septicaemia.
  • The aim of MRF’s awareness work is to save lives.
