Break Through! NHS Alliance 2011 Conference

This year’s NHS Alliance Conference – Break Through! – will bring together influential clinicians, management and policy makers on a level playing field to explore the impact of the government’s NHS reforms.

It will also serve as platform for leading thinkers and innovators – who are already providing practical solutions that are transforming the services in many communities up and down the country – to share their experience and examples of best practice.

High-profile speakers include Rt. Hon. Andrew Lansley, MP, Secretary of State for Health; Sir David Nicholson, KCB CBE, chief executive, NHS Commissioning Board; Marc DuBois, executive director, Médecins Sans Frontières UK; Dame Barbara Hakin, national managing director of Commissioning Development, among others. The conference will be chaired by Professor Chris Ham, The King’s Fund Chief Executive and professor of health policy and management at the Health Services Management Centre, University of Birmingham.

The conference will also feature a wide range of workshops tackling crucial issues such as quality, productivity and safety; commissioning; managing long-term conditions; patient engagement; leadership; emergency services, and community services.

Dr Michael Dixon, said: “This is a crucial time for the NHS and we want to bring together not only the most influential thinkers in the sector, but also those who are able to show us the way and share their experience of what can be done to help us take the NHS to the next level and deliver a truly world-class, patient-centred service and sustainable health service.”

Last year nearly 900 clinicians and managers attended the NHS Alliance conference and 70% of those who responded to the post conference survey said they would return in 2011. With the current reforms and challenges facing the NHS, those looking for answers, Break Through! is not to be missed.
